How to set up Neighbors, Ring's communal crime monitoring app

Neighbors is a communal app from Ring that lets its users keep track of local crime and share potential threats to others in their area. The best part? You don’t need to own a Ring product to use it. Setting up a new account is easy — here’s how.

Signing up for Neighbors

Once you’ve downloaded Neighbors from the Google Play Store, the setup process is fairly straightforward. Just pinpoint your neighborhood and sign up for a Ring account to get started.

  1. Open the Neighbors app and tap Sign up.
  2. Enter your address or find it on the map.
  3. Once you’ve placed your pin, tap Confirm address.

That’s it! Once you’ve finished creating your account, you’ll be taken right into the Neighbors feed where you can see recent suspicious and criminal activity in your area. You can also view the latest neighborhood crime report, which summarizes the last week of activity on one page.

Helpful hardware

One of the best parts of Neighbors by Ring is that you can still use it even if you don’t actually own any of Ring’s products. That being said, having a video doorbell can be a great way to keep track of your home, especially when you’re not there, and you’ll be able to capture footage of anything fishy to share with your community.

Surveillance made easy
